I spend my days at home with my people. We live, learn, read, play, exercise, and eat together every day. It’s the dream.
Sometimes, it’s also a struggle. It’s exactly what I want to be doing, but most days, I fall short of the expectations that I put on myself. It’s a life full of the things I love, and more challenges than I ever expected. Burnout, exhaustion, loneliness, and frustration have sometimes been a part of my days. I usually start to experience these things when I’m trying to do it all, control everything, and understand the things that aren’t meant for me to understand.
However, things change when I’m focused on the truth of who God is, obey His Word, remember His faithfulness, and trust his provision. My heart changes. I understand more of who I am in Him – made in His image, designed for community with Him and other believers, dependent on Him. He’s in control. And in that truth, I find rest.
I can walk confidently in the work that God has laid out for me when I understand more of who He is and who He created me to be. When I am consistently in His Word, I see my sin and turn from it, I obey God, I love Him and His people, I speak the truth to the people around me, I remember His faithfulness when circumstances are hard and trust Him completely because I know Him. He is great and He is good. And knowing Him changes everything in my world.
I want to talk through this applied truth with you because maybe you struggle with some of the same things. Regardless of the season that you are in, I know God’s Word is for you. You need truth and rest. You have sin and struggles that you need to turn from. You need community. You need hope for today.
I know because I do, too. I want to encourage you in the things that I need encouragement in, too. I want to work out my faith with honesty here.
I am a reader, lifelong learner, communicator, and friend. I can tell you those things confidently, with lots of life behind them. But, to tell you that I’m a writer makes me tremble. I have less confidence here, and less experience behind the claim.
But, the deep desire to know God and make Him known moves me to action. I have this burning fire of a passion for you to know the truth and be encouraged to live a full life in Him. So, I come to you as a reader, learner, communicator, and friend. Thank you so much for being here.
